Microcom ADSL DeskPorte USB

adsl usb modem(3 kb)

This ADSL USB modem allows connection to high‑speed Internet using ADSL technology (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line). I am connected at 1024 KB, so the download speed is about 120–130 kb/s. When I imagine that less than half a year ago I was downloading at 4–5 kb/s, it makes me feel a bit sick.

So far I am satisfied with this modem — even though I’ve had it only half a year, no major problems have occurred. It disconnected itself a few times, but that may not have been the modem’s fault. I am connected through a standard telephone line into which I plugged a splitter that separates the signal into an analog part (towards the regular telephone) and a digital part that goes to the PC through the modem. The modem has only 2 connectors: USB to the PC and an RJ‑11 connector for the line cable. Of course, it also has 5 indicator LEDs. Installation was very simple (Windows recognizes it via plug & play). Naturally, I also received an installation CD with it.
